Start Salesforce Lightning Journey

Hello there! If you’re here, I am sure you are buckled up to begin your journey  from Salesforce Classic to Salesforce Lightning. Well the first thing that arises in mind is, what is lightning?

Welcome ! you’re at right place!!

We will begin with introduction to the platform and some insights. There will be a series of blogs where you will learn more about the topic, all you have to do is follow our blogs.

So! What is lightning? For few of them out there, it is just a UI change! Ha!!!!     Lightning is a framework, which can help in building web apps and mobile apps. You can build single page applications with an ease of javascript at client side and apex in server side.,

A framework is a collection of codes and services to make your own custom app without writing too much of a code.

Lightning Component and Aura Components are one and same things.

Aura is a component based framework, you can build reusable components. using this framework. It is a package of a view, a client side controller and a server side controller. The view consists of markers,  it will contain your HTML tags and aura component tags both. When we talk about HTML tags, we are referring to traditional tags you might have used to build a html pages,  like <div><span><ul><li>….etc. Aura component tags  pre-include SLDS classes and there looks are totally different from normal HTML elements.

To add a normal text box in the view, we will use   <lightning:inputname=”input1″ label=”Enter some text”/>, which is equivalent to HTML tag <input type=”text” />. Since our web browser can only understand HTML,  ultimately all aura components tags are resolved to html tags, the only difference lies in look in feel of aura tags.

A few aura component tags are listed below:-

  • <lightning:card> creates a container around a group of information.
  • <lightning:formattedDateTime> displays formatted date and time.
  • <lightning:relativeDateTime> displays the relative time difference between the current time and the provided time

I guess this is enough of talking, now let’s jump on to the next level, into the action. But before that if you have  any doubt, don’t forget to leave a comment, we will reach out to you.

Let’s jump to the next blog and build our first lightning component.
